No. 48: Ms. SUN Dongmei (Tohoku University, completed AELC in September, 2022)

I attended the winter course in January 2021, the summer course in August 2021, and the summer course in August 2022. I would like to make the following two points to keep in mind.

First, I learned the spirit of challenging further development at AELC. As I have not spoken English for about 20 years since graduating from high school, I am prepared to say that the AELC classes are challenging, even if only in terms of language. When I first applied to Dokidoki, Dr. Liu gave me the inspiring words, "Please study English hard and participate in the classes, and good luck. Currently, I am challenging myself to write a paper in English. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the Dean of the Graduate School and other professors for giving this clumsy me such a precious chance to challenge myself.

Second, I experienced the "self-education and mutual education" that social pedagogy has always emphasized at AELC. The young graduate students were perfectionists, and we worked together almost every day after class until 2:00 in the morning the next day to create a ppt for the group presentation. They all received high marks in their final presentations. We spent a sweaty summer together with our babies and graduate students who are interested in Asian pedagogy. I experienced a sense of tension and accomplishment while being stimulated by the young graduate students.

At AELC, I was able to take classes from famous scholars of Asian pedagogy and experience giving presentations in English. With the knowledge I have learned here, the friendships I have gained, and the courage to face difficulties, I will do my best in my research life while taking on further challenges.
