No. 49: Ms. LI Shijing (Tohoku University, completed AELC in September, 2022)

Hello, I am Li Shijing from Tohoku University. I am happy to share my experience of participating in AELC with you. I started my AELC study in 2021 and completed it in 2022. I joined the 2021 summer course held by Korea University and the 2022 summer course held by Tohoku University. Unfortunately, due to the Corona, I did not have the opportunity to take classes at Korea University last year and most of the classes this year were online, but I learned a lot of pedagogical knowledge and discussed Asian educational issues with students from different cultural backgrounds.

First of all, through AELC I have learned different areas of knowledge within pedagogy. For example, last year I learned comparative education, how to use SPSS to process data, and knowledge about lifelong education. This year I learned about SDG and international development issues, support for children with autism and other disabilities using artificial intelligence, and knowledge about online mental health support.

Secondly, in ALE courses, we had group discussions and collaborative group work with students from other universities and Japanese high school students, where I heard diverse viewpoints and learned a lot.

Finally, how to improve your English skills while studying in Japan is a very important issue for me, and all my English reading and writing skills have been developed through AELC.

These are my thoughts on my participation in AELC. I am grateful for the experience and believe that the knowledge and abilities gained at AELC will help me in my future studies and work.
