2023年９月17日－28日、中国北京で実施された2023年度「海外教育演習」の現地調査に、教育学学部生９名と教育学研究科大学院生２名が参加した。この科目は2013年度に教育学部で開設され、事前学習とフィールドワークを通して、アジア地域における教育と社会についての理解を深めることを目的としている。
Between September 17 and 28, 2023, nine undergraduate education students and two graduate students from the Faculty of Education and Graduate School of Education participated in the fieldwork of the FY2023 "Overseas Education Fieldwork" in Beijing, China. This course was established by the Faculty of Education in 2013 and aims at deepening students' understanding of education and society in the Asian region through preliminary study and fieldwork.
北京に滞在中、学生たちは中国清華大学、北京師範大学教育部、北京外国語大学国際教育学院を訪問し、中国の大学生との交流を行い、訪問先の大学の教員による講義に参加した。また、それぞれの関心に基づいた課題を設定し、「大学入試」、「塾と教育」および「教師と教育」に焦点を置き、現地の学生たちに対するヒアリング調査も行った。９月25日には、学生たちは中国21世紀教育研究院を訪問し、中国の農村教育について、専門家との意見交換を行った。さらに、9月26日には、ユネスコ北京事務所を訪問した。訪問中、同事務所の教育専門家であるMr. Robert Paruaより、ユネスコのグローバル教育プログラムに関して説明を受けた。その後、学生たちが日本の教育における現状と課題について、グループ発表を行った。Mr. Paruaから学生たちへ、発表に対する有意義なコメントを頂いたのち、日本の教育問題に対する解決策について、学生たちと引率教員との意見交換も行った。訪問の最後に、Mr. Paruaと引率教員の劉靖准教授は同事務所と東北大学の今後の協力・連携の可能性について意見交換を行った。
During their stay in Beijing, the students visited Tsinghua University, Faculty of Education of Beijing Normal University, and the School of International Education at Beijing Foreign Studies University, where they interacted with Chinese university students, attended lectures by faculty members from the universities they visited, and conducted interviews with local students on issues of "university entrance exams," "cram schools and education," and "teachers and education. On September 25, the students visited the China 21st Century Education Research Institute and exchanged opinions with experts on rural education in China. On September 26, the students visited the UNESCO Beijing Office. During the visit, Mr. Robert Parua, Education Specialist at the UNESCO Beijing Office, briefed the students on UNESCO's efforts in global education programs. Then Mr. Parua then gave helpful comments on the students' presentations and exchanged views with the students and course instructor, Associate Professor Jing Liu, on possible solutions to Japan's education problems. At the end of the visit, Mr. Parua and Prof. Liu exchanged views on possible future cooperation and collaboration between the office and Tohoku University.
また、滞在中、学生たちは中国の世界遺産の「故宮博物院」や「万里の長城」を見学し、教育学研究科の中国国籍修了生２名との懇談会も行った。

Besides, during their stay, the students also visited the National Palace Museum and the Great Wall of China, both of which are World Heritage Sites in China. They also held a round-table meeting with two Chinese nationals’ alumni of the Graduate School of Education.
