From October 17 to 19, 2025, the Graduate School of Education at Tohoku University was honored to host the 22nd International Education Development Forum (IEDF)—a student-organized research forum that has been fostering academic dialogue on international education development and comparative education since its founding in 2004. This year’s theme, “International Educational Development Towards and Beyond 2030: Whose Agendas, and What Goals and Approaches?”, invited participants to reflect on the meaning of “development” and its relationship with education in the present and future contexts.
The three-day program featured a kick-off movie screening, an international symposium, and student presentation sessions. On the opening day (October 17) attracted 115 participants to the movie show and symposium. On October 18–19, 132 participants from 12 universities across Asia joined the student presentation sessions.
Throughout the forum, participants engaged in collective dialogue reviewing past experiences in international education development and examining current strategies aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. They critically discussed limitations of existing frameworks and shared alternative perspectives and innovative approaches for the post-2030 era—particularly concerning the evolving role of education in achieving equitable and sustainable futures.
During the student presentation sessions, 84 presenters showcased their research proposals or findings and received constructive feedback from faculty members, researchers from IEDF member universities, and invited guest speakers. The lively exchanges and mutual support exemplified the collaborative spirit of IEDF and reaffirmed its role as a platform for the next generation of international education scholars.
第22回国際教育開発フォーラム（IEDF 2025）開催報告
2025年10月17日から19日にかけて、東北大学大学院教育学研究科において、第22回国際教育開発フォーラム（International Education Development Forum: IEDF）を開催いたしました。IEDFは、国際教育開発および比較教育学に関する学生主体の研究フォーラムとして2004年に創設されて以来、アジアを中心とする学生・研究者の交流と学術的対話を促進してきました。
今回のテーマは「International Educational Development Towards and Beyond 2030: Whose Agendas, and What Goals and Approaches?（2030年に向けて、そしてその先の国際教育開発：誰のアジェンダか、どのような目標とアプローチか）」であり、「開発」と「教育」の意味を、現在および未来の文脈から問い直す場となりました。
3日間のプログラムでは、キックオフ映画上映会、国際シンポジウム、および学生発表セッションが実施されました。初日（10月17日）の映画上映会とシンポジウムには、115名の参加者が集まりました。続く10月18日・19日の学生発表セッションには、アジア12大学から132名の参加者が参加しました。
会期中、参加者たちは、これまでの国際教育開発の経験を振り返るとともに、持続可能な開発のための2030アジェンダに沿った現在の取り組みを検討しました。また、既存の枠組みの限界を批判的に議論し、ポスト2030時代に向けた教育の役割や新たな視点・革新的アプローチを共有しました。
学生発表セッションでは、84名の発表者が自身の研究提案や研究成果を発表し、加盟大学の研究者や招待講演者から建設的なコメントと助言を受けました。活発な意見交換を通じて、IEDFが次世代の国際教育研究者を育む協働と対話のプラットフォームであることが改めて確認されました。
